Q: The Department of Educational Psychology (EPSY) offers both an on-campus (https://rmme.education.uconn.edu) and online Master of Arts degree in Education in Research Methods, Measurement, and Evaluation (RMME). What’s the difference?
A: The on-campus and online program have identical requirements. The only difference is the modality of the courses you take (i.e., face-to-face vs. online). There is no distinction on your transcripts about which modality you choose.
Q: For whom is the Research Methods, Measurement, and Evaluation master’s degree designed?
A: This 100% online program is for current and future practitioners who wish to acquire foundational skills and knowledge in the areas of research methods, measurement, and evaluation.
Q: Do I need a special bachelor’s degree to apply?
A: No specialized undergraduate degrees are required. Individuals with a bachelor’s degree in any major are encouraged to apply.
Q: How long will it take to complete the degree?
A: Approximately three semesters of full-time study are required as a minimum to complete the master’s degree. A student holding an assistantship, or who is otherwise prevented from carrying a full load of graduate work (normally nine or more credits per semester), generally requires an additional semester to complete the degree.
Q: What will graduates of RMME be prepared to do?
A: The UConn RMME Master’s program prepares students to:
- Design and deliver meaningful program evaluations
- Construct quantitative research studies
- Conduct data analyses and present results in a variety of formats
- Communicate technical and complex information to diverse audiences
- Read and critically evaluate educational and social science research
- Select measures for use in research studies and clinical settings, using measurement theory
- Understand and evaluate the psychometric adequacy of measures
